“In a typical UK household, more than half the money spent on fuel bills goes towards providing heating and hot water.” (Energy Savings Trust)

Heating accounts for a large percentage of what you spend in a year on energy bills, so it is important to make sure you have an efficient well-maintained boiler.

Modern boilers are more efficient for several reasons, but their main advantage is that they are
all condensing boilers. A condensing boiler has a larger heat exchanger, so it recovers more heat, sends cooler gases up the flue and is more efficient.

Sometimes the flue gases get so cool that the water vapour in the gas condenses out, hence the name, and even more energy is recovered from the condensing vapour.

The three types of condensing boilers available are called regular, system and combi (combination).

Regular and system condensing boilers need a hot water cylinder to store heated water.

Combination boilers dispense with the hot water cylinder to give you instant hot water at mains pressure, as and when you need it.

How can we help?

We can advise you as to which type of condensing boiler is suitable for your situation. Combi boilers are not always compatible with certain heating systems. Give Sharon or Julie a call on 01531 671000 and we’ll arrange an informal site meeting and survey.
